Businesses and seniors have another reason to ring in 2016.
New provincial tax breaks came into effect with the new year.
Small businesses can now have an income of up to $450,000 and pay no provincial corporate income tax.
Previously, the limit was $425,000.
The province expects the move will benefit 16,000, an increase of 2,000.
Also, the seniors’ school tax rebate is taking a major jump from $470 to $2,300.
Premier Greg Selinger says about 98 per cent of qualifying seniors will no longer have to pay school tax.
