The RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is investigating after a baby girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Monday morning, police from the Mounties’ Virden detachment were called to Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation after reports that the 2 month old was taken to a local hospital.
On their way to the scene, police learned the baby was taken to a Winnipeg hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Police continue to investigate and a residence at the first nation is being held and secured as part of that investigation.
Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation is located off the Trans Canada Highway between Virden and Brandon.
