Current Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck has been picked to represent the Manitoba Moose at the 2016 AHL All-Star Classic. The event takes place Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Syracuse, NY.
While with the Moose, Hellebuyck played 10 games with a 2.41 goals against average and .927 save percentage. In his current stint with the Jets he has played 13 games with a 1.93 goals against average and .935 save percentage.
The selection is a second consecutive for Hellebuyck as he represented the then St. John’s Ice Caps in Utica, NY last season. Much like the NHL, the AHL will sport a new format for the classic. Teams will compete by division in a round robin tournament of both 4-on-4 and 3-on-3 play.
Hellebuyck is the lone Moose selection and will represent the Central Division.
