The situation of a bridge closure in northern Ontario is one step closer to being fixed.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation says that the Nipigon River Bridge is now open to single lane traffic.
The bridge, located 100 kilometres from Thunder Bay, had been closed yesterday because part of the steel decking buckled in the cold.
The bridge is part of the Trans-Canada Highway, the main route that connects that province to western Canada without crossing through the US. If you were to drive to Toronto from Winnipeg, you would have to cross that bridge on the way.
Nipigon Mayor Richard Harvey says engineers are assessing the extent of the damage.
