Rock icon David Bowie has died after a battle with cancer. He was 69.
The rock star’s representative says Bowie died “peacefully” Sunday surrounded by family. He added, “While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
Tributes are pouring in with tweets from British Prime Minister David Cameron, The Vatican and British astronaut Tim Peake all mourning his death. London Mayor Boris Johnson said “No-one in our age has better deserved to be called a genius.”
Bowie’s new album, released last Friday, is called “Blackstar.”

If you’re ever sad, just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.
