It’s a real buyers market on the housing front in Winnipeg.
Nearly 90 per cent of homes sold last month went for less than the listed price.
But Peter Squire of the Winnipeg Realtors Association says despite this trend, the margin wasn’t huge.
“The important price about that is, if you look overall, they were still achieving 98 per cent of that list price, so it’s not as if the floor has dropped out at all.”
Squire adds the average sale was still two per cent higher last year than the year before.
“We’ve levelled off since 2011, and so, again, that just reinforces the one thing we’ve always said about Winnipeg, is how affordable we are.”
Because of the levelling off of prices, it has made for a great buyers market.
