RCMP are issuing a warning after a disturbing incident in Elie.
Officers say around suppertime Monday, a 13-year-old girl was approached by two men in a van.
She was in the parking lot at the Elie Community Centre, when the pair asked her where she lived and how old she was.
The teen took off and told her parents.
The men, who are described as between 35 and 40 years old and aboriginal in appearance, were in a blue metallic van. The passenger, who was speaking with the youth, is described as tall, skinny and wearing a black sweater.
“While there were no violence or threats, we need to be overly cautious and share this incident with our communities,” says RCMP Sgt. Bert Paquet. “Parents are also reminded to take the time to discuss safety scenarios with their kids, and what to do in cases like these. Anyone with information about this or similar cases is asked to contact their police of jurisdiction.”
