Manitoba smokers will get government help in their effort to quit.
The province announced the program as part of the flurry of pre-election announcements.
Up to 6,000 people will get 2 months worth of nicotine gum, patches or lozenges in their effort to kick the habit.
The Canadian Cancer Society’s Rob Cunningham is glad to hear it.
“Nicotine replacement is an approach that works for many people and to make it more affordable can help,” Cunningham tells 680 CJOB.
Cunningham says despite all the progress made over the years and decades, more than 5 million Canadians still smoke.
