Could we see a return of the World Famous Palomino Club? Owner Cary Paul says it may not be long before we see that name again in our city.
Paul says he has seen interest from potential business owners on opening a bar named after the nightspot that closed earlier in January.
On Friday he told 680 CJOB that he has sold the use of the name in Winnipeg to longtime Pal employee Christian Stringer. The pair have worked together for 23 years and Stringer was a general manager at the bar.
“We’ve been negotiating and today he did purchase the licensing in Winnipeg.” Paul said. “We worked together for many years and I wouldn’t have licensed it to anyone else in Winnipeg”
Paul says Stringer and any of his partners are looking into possible locations of a reborn version of “The Pal”. But says it is in the early stages.
And there is also a chance that other cities may have their own version of the popular nightspot. Paul says he will be looking into the possibility of licencing the name to other cities.
“I intend to throw it out there across Canada since it is well known.” Paul says, “There are some interested parties in other cities with some desire, at least a bit of interest.”
The Palomino Club was a longtime staple in Winnipeg nightlife. The original location at Portage and Minto (pictured) will be converted into a condo building.
