The Manitoba Moose took it down to the wire before a 3-2 overtime loss to Charlotte. The Checkers found the winning goal mid-way through the extra frame.
To get to that point, the Moose had to recover from a two-goal deficit. John Albert scored late in the second period to trail 2-1 into the third. Austen Brassard tied things up in the third to force OT.
Ethan Werek put away the winner for Charlotte to hand the Moose their 20th loss just 36 games into the season. Eric Comrie made 25 saves in the loss.
On Sunday it is right back at it for both teams. The Moose stay in Charlotte to face the Checkers before continuing an eight-game road trip with stops in Ontario (California), Stockton and Bakersfield.
