Progressive Conservative Leader Brian Pallister says if he becomes Premier, he’ll invest more money in infrastructure. And he’ll do it smartly.
Pallister told a small gathering of people from the construction industry he will invest an average of at least $1-billion a year in infrastructure.
After criticizing NDP spending in his speech, he told the crowd he would spend more on infrastructure than the government has. He says the increase would be offset by cuts in other areas.
“There’s lots of waste, and we’ll find that waste,” he said.
Instead of doing every infrastructure project on everyone’s wish list, Pallister said a PC government would pick and choose the projects that offer the best value for money.
“We need to strategically target those investments so that we’re helping more people to get to work, to create jobs,” he said.
He would not name any wish list projects he would not do. He says he would consult with industry experts first.
