Manitoba’s flood forecasters have a new home.
They’ve just moved into a $1.5 million dollar, 15,000 sq ft. facility inside an office building on Broadway.
The idea is to bring more staff under one roof so they can more easily work as a team during flood season.
There’s also some new technology with a main “war room” including eigh screens that can monitor conditions in real time.
Staff at the new facility say it’s still too early to tell whether this relatively mild winter will impact the flood forecast in the spring.
A first flood outlook will be issued in late February.
