Frightening moments at CF Polo Park on Friday after police swarmed the mall for reports of two men with guns.
Winnipeg Police say officers responded to a gun call at around 12:20 p.m and two were taken into custody.
An officer was seen holding what appeared to be two replica guns – a shotgun and a rifle. It was later confirmed by police and some staff that both weapons were fake.
Winnipeg Police say the two incidents are unrelated and have now charged Clinton Peter Osborne, 26, with causing a disturbance and failing to comply with probation. Police say he had been making hand and body gestures at shoppers, pretending to hold and shoot a firearm.
The other man was carrying an airsoft rifle in his backpack but was just given a warning and sent on his way.
