This weekend you can take in some winter fun that’s for the family.
And with the temperature above zero today, even Mother Nature is cooperating.
The Broadway Neighbourhood Centre in Winnipeg is hosting the 9th annual Snoball, featuring an outdoor winter carnival today from noon until 4 pm
There is a healthy lunch, horse drawn carriage rides, free skate rentals for ice skating, broom ball and hockey.
Also, a local volunteer is celebrated each year with the Golden Shovel Award. This year that volunteer is Robert Wilson. “He is without a doubt the most helpful volunteer with any and all Art City endeavours,” says Greg MacPherson, executive directof of the West Broadway Community Organization. “The folks at Art City nominated him this year as a way to acknowledge his enormous contributions.

Meanwhile, over in Osborne Village there’s The Village Winter Classic — a 4-on-4 ball hockey tournament.
Osborne Village BIZ executive director Stephanie Meilleur tells us over 25 teams are participating. The games are taking place at Osborne and Stradbrook, in the east and west parking lots on the north side of the intersection.
There’s a beer garden on the east side, along with live bands which go until 6pm.
