Tomorrow, someone from New York’s most iconic intersection will talk about how to make Portage and Main more pedestrian friendly.
Tim Tompkins of the Times Square Alliance will talk to city officials and property owners about how he helped turn that famous spot into a pedestrian plaza.
Stefano Grade of the Downtown Biz says the time is right to reopen Portage and Main to pedestrians.
“Today the downtown is different. Our downtown is very critical, it’s the face of our city. Today, we’re a downtown that is all about people. It’s all about walking. It’s not necessarily about people driving through this important segment of our downtown,” Grande tells 680 CJOB.
Tompkins will talk about how he helped engage New Yorkers to change attitudes and get people on board.
