Winnipeg’s resident polar bears are being thrust into the national spotlight.
Canada’s National Tourism marketing organization has added Journey to Churchill to a high-profile list.
The exhibit has made Destination Canada’s Signature Collection, which connects visitors to experiences that represent our country, its geography and our heritage.
Assiniboine Park’s Laura Curtis it’s important for the zoo.
“So it gives our province a larger profile across the nation, but also beyond that, so it’s a really great tourism initiative,” she said.
Visitors that take part in the special “signature experience” get a private, guided tour of the exhibit and get an up close experience with a polar bear. It also goes behind the scenes of the Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre.
