It was hard getting a bottle of Northern Harvest Rye at Christmas but a strike at Crown Royal could soon make it a lot harder.
The workers who make the world famous whisky in Gimli have voted in favour of a walkout to back their contract demands.
Local 832 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union says its members have voted 100 per cent in favour of strike action.
The union says a walkout will begin on March 4 if a deal is not reached before then. They’ll be back at the bargaining table on the 16th.
Last November, a British-based expert selected Crown Royal’s Northern Harvest Rye as the World Whisky of the Year for 2016.
That was a first for a Canadian whisky.
