A night after allowing 2 late third period power play goals in a 3-2 loss to Texas, the Manitoba Moose rallied with 3 unanswered goals in the final 10 minutes- only to lose 7-6 in a shootout to the Stars on Wednesday Night.
Josh Morrissey and Nic Petan scored 1:58 apart midway through the third period to cut the Texas lead to 6-5. And that set the stage for Julian Melchiori to tie the game with just 2:02 remaining. But after a scoreless overtime, which saw the Moose outshoot the visitors 8-1, Texas grabbed the extra point in the shootout when Jason Dickinson beat Eric Comrie while Nic Petan was stopped by Stars netminder Maxime Lagace.
Petan finished the night with 2 goals and an assist while Brenden Kichton and Scott Kosmachuk scored the other goals. Jussi Olkinuoura made his first home start, but didn’t finish the game as he was replaced with Comrie 2:19 into the third period after allowing 4 goals on 21 shots.
