An enumerator in Winnipeg has been fired after it was revealed the man is a registered sex offender.
Elections Manitoba says they launched an investigation after a woman in St. James reported the enumerator.
That woman also contacted a local neighbourhood watch type of Facebook group.
The woman running the group, Frances Matlock, then posted a warning on the page.
Matlock tells 680 CJOB the woman looked online and found an article stating the man’s charges. It displayed his picture and she decided to call Elections Manitoba.
An Elections Manitoba spokesperson says no criminal background checks are required for enumerators, but the agency is now reviewing their hiring policies.
