2016 is turning out to be quite the year for Matt Dunstone.
The 20-year-old claimed his second Canadian Junior Curling title in January and will compete in the World Junior Championship in March.
Now the young rink is blitzing its way through the senior circuit, and Reid Carruthers is his latest victim. Dunstone scored an 8-4 victory over the defending champion in the semifinal of the Manitoba Men’s Curling Championship in Selkirk. The turning point was a delicate tap to score four in the 5th end.
Dunstone advances to the final at 2 p.m. against Mike McEwen, but since Dunstone has already committed to the World Juniors (which runs the same week as the Brier), McEwen will be the Manitoba representative at the Brier for the first time regardless of this afternoon’s result.
