Did you vote in the 2015 federal election? If you didn’t, why not?
Statistics Canada asked that question of some of the 23 per cent of voters who didn’t make it to the polls.
One-third said they didn’t vote because they are not interested in politics.
One-quarter said they were too busy.
Twelve per cent said they were out of town on Election Day. Another 12 per cent says they were sick or have a disability.
The good news – voter turnout was up last fall to 77 per cent from 70 per cent in 2011.
In Manitoba, the voter turnout was up by 10 percentage points.
Youth voter turnout increased from 55 per cent to 67 per cent.
