Netminder Riley Lamb of the Yellowhead Chiefs has been named the Manitoba Triple AAA Midget Hockey League’s Most Valuable Player for the 2015-16 season.
The 17 year old native of Rivers played in 42 of the Chiefs 44 regular season games and led the league with 4 shutouts to go along with a 1.82 goals against average and .939 saves percentage.
The 5-11, 158 pound goalie played a major role in Yellowhead’s 4th place finish in the regular season with a 29-8-7 record.
The Top Goaltender Award went to Matt Radomsky, who topped all MMHL puckstoppers with a 1.55 GAA. The 6-2, 180 pound 16 year old enjoyed an outstanding rookie campaign with a 14-3-1 record, .931 saves percentage, and 3 shutouts.
Brad Goethals of the Eastman Selects went wire to wire as the league’s scoring leader with 41 goals and 33 assists for 74 points. The 6-1, 170 pound 17 year old center from Ile des Chenes wound up 13 points ahead of the next leading scorer. Goethals scored 12 powerplay goals and had 7 game winners in helping Eastman win the regular season title with a 40-1-3 record.
The Hockey Ability and Sportsmanship Award went to Brendan Keane of the Winnipeg Wild. The 17 year old, 6-0 and 170 pound forward had 9-18-27 in 41 games and totaled only 6 penalty minutes.
