Winnipeg-native Chelsea Carey and Team Alberta curled a nearly flawless game en route to a 7-5 win over Team Canada and Jennifer Jones in the 1 v 2 page playoff game at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Both teams made the 1 v 2 game with matching 9-2 records this week, but Alberta started the game with hammer thanks to their 12-5 opening draw win over Canada. And just like that match a week ago, Alberta controlled the play from the start to finish.
Carey curled an astounding 96% in the game, the highest mark for a skip at this year’s event. Her team as a whole curled 92%, making nearly every shot and flustering Jones and her usually unflappable team.
Alberta advances straight through to Sunday night’s final while Canada will play the winner of this afternoon’s 3 v 4 game between Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson and Northern Ontario’s Krista McCarville starting at 2:30 p.m. Tonight’s semifinal starts at 7:30.
