A high ranking member of the Manitoba Hells Angels is on trial for allegedly breaking a boys arm while he learned to ride a bicycle.
Rod Sweeney has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and assault with a weapon.
The boy testified in court today that he never learned how to ride because he had Leukemia as a child.
He told court he and his uncle were practicing in an East Kildonan back lane one night in August of 2013, when they heard a voice yell from behind a fence.
He said a few minutes later a black SUV pulled up behind them, a man got out and hit him with a metal rod. He said it cracked his arm in two places.
His uncle was also allegedly attacked, even having his bike thrown at him, court heard.
It’s still unclear how police came to pin the attack on Sweeney. The boy was shown pictures by police but told them none of them looked like his attacked.
The trial is slated to last two more days. Police officers and the uncle are expected to testify.
