While some have called it a “fluff” interview, others have said Justin Trudeau’s 60 Minutes interviewed may have muddied America’s welcome mat.
Last night, host Lara Logan asked our prime minister what Canadians expected of their American neighbours, and he said, “It might be nice if they paid a little more attention to the world.” Trudeau went on to say, “We sometimes like to think that, you know, Americans will pay attention to us from time to time, too.”
On Syrian refugees, the PM intimated that Canada is open and respectful to others, while the US layers “big walls and oppressive policies.”
While social media lit up in response to these remarks, you have to wonder if President Obama even entertained them.
Perhaps unexpectedly, it seems some of the biggest conversation around the piece is about the photos of Lara Logan with Justin Trudeau posted to the host’s Facebook account. Does that affect her journalistic integrity?
