A young Winnipeg mother was strangled and stabbed in the heart – all in her own living room.
That’s according to a pathologist testifying today at the first-degree murder trial of Schuyler Van Wissen.
Van Wissen is also accused of killing and sexually assaulting 33-year-old single mother Gina Swanson in May of 2011.
Swanson was found dead in her living room.
The pathologist spent hours today describing Swanson’s injuries. He told the jury she was stabbed repeatedly with a large knife, strangled and may have had a concussion after being hit in the head.
He also took swabs for DNA, which prosecutors say will link Van Wissen to the crime later on in the trial. It slated to last at least another two weeks.
The jury still has not heard how the victim and the accused may have known each other.
