Winnipeg’s Matt Dunstone went into the World Junior Men’s Curling Championship in Taarnby, Denmark as the overwhelming favorite. And the Canadian champs started that way with 2 wins over the United States and Sweden.
But Dunstone lost 10-7 to Scotland Monday afternoon. And Tuesday morning the two time Canadian Junior Champs gave up a five on the eighth end of a 7-5 loss to Switzerland to drop to 2-2.
Russia, Scotland, and the United States also picked up wins to join Switzerland at the top of the standings at 3-1. Dunstone will try to regroup when he meets Korea in a 2 a.m. start CST in the wee hours of Wednesday Morning.
Things are going much better for Canada on the Junior Women’s side. Mary Fay of Nova Scotia is tied for the lead at 4-0 with Korea and will play Hungary in a Noon start Winnipeg time on Tuesday afternoon.
