We all dream of winning the lottery.
But for Winnipegger Leslie MacMillan, that dream is now a reality.
She won $3.6 million dollars in February 27th’s Lotto 6/49 draw and today she picked up her cheque.
MacMillan says she doesn’t have any splashy plans for the money, but would rather give back to the community.
“I’m not going to get into details about it, but it’s just important to give back. I always have believed that and I’ve always done it. I can just do it bigger now.”
She says she was in a state of shock when she found out she had the winning ticket.
“You look at it and you go, ‘No, this can’t be possible, can it?’ I looked at it for minutes, not seconds. And sure enough, those numbers were highlighted, all in a row, all six of them, and there was the prize! It’s amazing.”
This might anger the “I never win anything crowd,” but this isn’t the first time MacMillan has cashed in before, capturing a $50,000 prize in the past. Her message to those who don’t ever get to here the winner’s music?
“Not to have that attitude, you have to have a positive attitude! If you go in and think, ‘Well, I’m going to buy this ticket but I’m not going to win anything’ then you won’t. You have to have that positive karma and believe that you will.”
Despite winning the jackpot, MacMillan still plans buying lottery tickets each week.
“Of course! I mean, Friday’s jackpot is $60-million!”
