UPDATE: As of minutes ago, Loblaw announced it’s heard its customer and reversed the decision. The power of social media.
It feels like Loblaw just ripped the Canadian flag off the pole, cut it into pieces, stomped on it, wiped up a mess of ketchup and threw the beat up flag in the garbage. Loblaw has stopped stocking the fastest growing condiment in the country: French’s ketchup.
You may recall we talked about this on my show the other week, after sales of French’s ketchup soared as result of a Facebook post by a man in Orillia. He moved Canadians to buy the mustard company’s ketchup, because it is made with tomatoes from Leamington, Ontario, at a plant that Heinz abandoned when it laid off hundreds of employees.
Now, many Canadians, like John Tard (see his video below), are taking to social media and contacting Loblaw to say they will boycott all Loblaw companies until French’s ketchup is back on the shelves. Are you with them? Taking your calls and texts after 1pm: 204.780.6868.
