The provincial election will be called Wednesday.
It’s sort of formality, since the election date has long been fixed as April 19th.
But the campaigning will begin in earnest Wednesday from all parties.
Premier Greg Selinger will spend the next few weeks trying to climb out of the hole he dug with the unpopular PST increase three years ago.
He’s been facing low polling numbers and a revolt from some within the NDP ever since.
Opposition Leader Brian Pallister says his Progressive Conservatives are ready to go. Pallister has three rallies planned for Wednesday.
The Tories have already raised more campaign funds than the NDP.
The campaign will be the first for Liberal leader Rana Bokhari, who took over from Dr. Jon Gerrard in 2013. The Liberals currently have just one seat in the Legislature.
