There could be a change to how much time high school sports take from the classroom.
A resolution brought forward at the Manitoba School Boards Association general meeting says sports are eating up too much class time for staff and students.
Athletics Association Executive Director Morris Glimcher tells 680 CJOB individual schools should make that decision.
“In some divisions maybe this is a problem, but in other school divisions it isn’t a problem. The best way to address it is for a school Principal to say, if there’s a tournament starting on Thursday, guess what, we can’t go to those tournaments.
The resolution calls for enhanced efforts to prevent the loss of class time due to games and tournaments.
Glimcher says changes can be made but a broad approach isn’t necessary.
