A B.C. man forgets his reading glasses, and Facebook forgets that people are innocent until proven guilty.
As the Calgary Sun reports, two 12-year-old Trail. B.C. girls saw a middle-aged man in a fast food joint struggling to read his phone with an outstretched hand and thought he was a pervert trying to get them on camera. So the tweens took photos of him, posted them to Facebook, and all of the sudden the story behind the “creepy” man turned into the hunt for a pedophile.
Except he’s not a pedophile. The man is actually an upstanding citizen, who has since been cleared by RCMP and police.
“We’re not angry, we’re sad. We’re upset, and we’re scared,” his wife told the Sun.
But even though he’s been proven innocent, the court of online opinion has left a guilty digital footprint.
