It almost cost a Manitoba man $180,000, but the Blue Bombers are off the hook for a mistake with their 50/50 contest.
Charles Ritchot of La Salle had the winning ticket for the 50/50 at the Grey Cup this fall, but almost never knew it because the number was written out wrong on the team’s website.
The Liquor and Gaming Authority launched an investigation into how that could have happened. CAO Liz Stephenson says they’ve now found it was an honest mistake.
“This was a case of human error. We have been in discussions with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, made some suggestions to them in terms of improving some of their internal processes to do some double-checking.”
The Bombers won’t face any penalties. After the website posted the correct numbers, Ritchot ended up collecting his winnings.
