A battle between Mayor Brian Bowman and the city workers’ union is taking centre stage on budget day at City Hall.
CUPE Local 500 boss Gord Delbridge says $21-million in vacancy management savings in the budget amounts to service cuts.
He says public safety could be at risk and facilities will close without enough workers on the job.
Bowman was the only person on council to vote against allowing Delbridge to take questions.
City council will vote on the budget later today.
