The NDP will create a $25-million fund to build new daycares in our province, if they’re re-elected next month.
Party Leader Greg Selinger says they will build or buy existing facilities and lease them to non-profit groups.
“By doing this pre-build approach and leasing it, that will allow daycares to get up and running more quickly. Children don’t wait for five years, they’re growing up every single day. Families want to work. So this approach will allow families to work and earn a decent income for themselves.”
The NDP will also open a new 100-space child care centre in St. James.
This pledge is on top of the NDP’s exisiting commitment to invest $25-million to build daycares in schools.
Selinger’s party is hoping to create 12, 000 new daycare spaces across Manitoba.
