No more door knocking. No more phone calls from parties or pollsters. No more flyers under the door or in the mailbox. Today, Manitobans will head to the polls to cast a ballot in this provincial election. As I stated in an earlier blog post, I could not be happier this campaign is finally over. Am I closer to the election story than most? Perhaps. But, even as just an ordinary Winnipegger, I grew weary of all the campaigning happening on my door-step. There was not one single evening in the past two weeks where my phone did not ring. It got to a point where I got angry. I guess that is the peril of living in one of the most hotly contested riding’s in Manitoba. But now….it’s over. All that’s left is for the votes to be cast and the ballots to be counted. Now this is where I get excited. I love listening to election results coverage. It’s like the Stanley Cup of politics. What surprises are in store for tonight? Who will lose their seat? Who will pull off the surprise win? Who is a sore loser? Which riding will go into overtime? Don’t know about you but, I’ve got my popcorn ready and can’t wait to hear the coverage on 680 CJOB !
