A Manitoba man serving a life sentence for stabbing family members to death in Winnipeg in 2005, has died in an Alberta hospital.
At that time, Rodney Hirsekorn turned himself into police and led them to the grisly crime scene on Duluth Bay in Windsor Park.
His mom and sister, Kathleen and Colleen Hirsekorn, who were 78 and 44 were found dead inside.
He was eventually found guilty of second-degree murder and in 2006 started serving an indeterminate sentence.
The Correctional Service of Canada confirms the 60-year-old had been serving his sentence at the Drumheller Institution.
Police and the coroner have been notified, and an investigation will be done.
