La Salle’s Randy Neufeld could not overcome the home team, losing to Sweden 7-4 in the gold medal match of the World Senior Men’s Curling Championship.
Neufeld had hammer in the final end but down two points, could not come up with the winning shot.
Canada takes home silver for the second straight year after losing to the US in last year’s final. Canadians have made the finals every year since the tournament was created in 2002.
History of a different kind on the women’s side: this is the first time that Canada did not make the medal round, and only the second time that Canada did not play for gold.
