The Edmonton Eskimos have led an initiative for all 9 Canadian Football League Teams, including the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, to make a combined donation of 50 thousand dollars to the Red Cross in support of the relief fund for fire ravaged Fort McMurray.
The Eskimos played Saskatchewan in an exhibition game last June 13th at SMS Stadium at Shell Place in Fort McMurray. And two weeks later the Toronto Argonauts played their regular season “home” opener versus Edmonton in Week One of the 2015 CFL season.
“Our thoughts are with the people of Fort McMurray,” said Jeffrey L. Orridge, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League. “They have been our gracious hosts. They are our friends. And most importantly, they are our fellow Canadians. All of our teams, and I know all of our fans, wish them safe passage and in time a full recovery from this crisis.”
