The province has launched an investigation into the death of a worker at Russel Metals. The 59-year-old man was killed yesterday afternoon at the company’s location on St. James Street.
Its still not clear exactly how he died, but a provincial spokesperson tells us Workplace Safety and Health Officers were at the scene and issued a stop work order. Employees were sent home.
None of the metal or overhead cranes can be used until the order is lifted. The employer also has to do an investigation and report to W-S-H. The company has been asked to comment but so far has not issued a statement.
The name of the man killed has not been made public.
