There will be no repeat for the Portage Terriers at the RBC Cup. The Brooks Bandits took a last chance game 2-1 at the Western Canada Cup with the second berth in the national junior “A” championship on the line.
Portage got behind early, with the Bandits up 2-0 in the second period. Braydon MacDonald scored the lone Terriers goal to cut the lead in half, but that was all they could manage.
Nathan Park made 32 saves in the loss as Portage was out-shot 34-19 in the game.
With the win Brooks joins West Kelowna as the two western Canada representatives at the national tourament.
The loss concludes another successful season for the Terriers, as they won 52 of their 60 games en-route to the MJHL title.
