While fire crews are busy dealing with forest fires here, some Manitobans have been shipped off to help in Fort McMurray.
22 members of Manitoba’s Urban Search and Rescue team left this morning.
They’ll help co-ordinate the multi-agency response to the emergency, as well as offer relief to other responders.
Meanwhile Winnipeg will be sending paramedics to help out in Fort McMurray.
The city has received an official request to provide assistance at various Alberta reception centres.
The number and type of staff required will be determined in the near future.
Other details like the cost of deployment are also being worked out.
