While rain is in the forecast for the next few days, relief has yet to come for a pair of Manitoba wildfires.
As of early this afternoon, the fire at Beresford Lake is 560 square kilometres, up from 500 yesterday, while the fire at Caddy Lake nearly doubled from 28 square kilometres yesterday to 51 today.
Manitoba firefighters are battling the Beresford Lake blaze, and water bombers and helicopters have been sent out to fight the fires. The province says roughly 100 officials are working to protect property in the area.
An evacuation order remains in affect for Wallace Lake while the east shore of Caddy Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park is closed.
Ontario continues to lead operations to control the Caddy Lake blaze.
