Guido Amsel has once again been denied bail and will remain in custody until his trial.
It isn’t scheduled until August, 2017.
Amsel is facing multiple counts of attempted murder following an arrest last July.
Lawyer Maria Mitousis lost her hand and was severely injured when bombs were mailed to three locations in Winnipeg.
A judge denied Amsel’s bail request last September and on Thursday a judge denied a bail review finding no issue with the earlier ruling.
When the decision came down, Amsel’s wife broke down crying, while he didn’t show any emotion.
He has spent the last 10 months behind bars and because of Thursday’s ruling Amsel is expected to spend over a year in custody. His judge alone trial on attempted murder and explosives charges is not expected to begin for over a year.
“Two days ago his blood pressure skyrocketed and he had to be taken to the hospital,” said Martin Glazer, Amsel’s lawyer. “As you can see today he looks quite gaunt and worn out.”
Amsel was also re-arrested last month in connection to an explosion in St. Clements in 2013.
