Two Manitoba teachers have been recognized as some of the top teachers in the country.
Charles Bazilewich from Sisler High School has won the 2015 Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
There were 10 winners across Canada.
Bazilewich has been at the school for five years, and has been recognized for his courses in cybersecurity — which often leave students with the opportunity to find work right out of high school.
Another Manitoban winner is Brenda Margetts, who has won the Certificate of Achievement. Margetts teaches Kindergarten at Balmoral School. There were 25 winners in the Achievement category.
Also, two Manitobans have been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Early Childhood Education.
They are Olha Zablotski at Parkside Child Care, at 99 Ambassador Row; and Laura Burla at St. James-Assiniboia Montessori Association Inc., at 3180 McBey Avenue.
