Evacuees and others affected by the wildfires on the Manitoba/Ontario border will be updated Sunday afternoon.
They’ll gather with provincial officials at the Whiteshell Community Hall in Falcon Lake.
Evacuation orders are still in place, but a timeline for partial lifting of them will be discussed.
On Saturday, provincial officials said both Caddy Lake and Beresford Lake fires are more than 50 per cent contained.
Both blazes have been burning for over a week. Hot weather, low humidity and high winds helped fuel the fire in the early stages, but officials say they’re now able to get the upper hand thanks in part to the cooler weather.
The fire northeast of Caddy Lake on the Manitoba/Ontario border remains 58 square kilometers, while the Beresford Lake fire is 750 square kilometers.
