The huge Target store in the Polo Park area will continue to sit empty, at least for a while.
CF Polo Park’s Deborah Green says they still haven’t found a retailer to take the space more than a year after it closed.
“We’re talking with a few people, but we have just not found the right client yet, so it still sits there,” she said.
Green says most retailers just don’t need that much space.
“It’s 150,000 square feet. There’s not too many retailers around of that size anymore, as we see the demise of some of the department stores. We may eventually have to split it. We don’t know.”
But splitting up the large space is difficult with its two levels.
“The elevator, all of the services, were at one end and the other end was just store space. There’s no vertical transportation on the west side of that building so to split it in half would become very difficult, very challenging. But we never say never,” she said.
Meanwhile, a Danish retailer is moving in to CF Polo Park mall.
Bestseller will open four stores – Vero Moda, Only, Jack and Jones, and Premium by Jack and Jones.
