Winnipeg police have named a new deputy chief.
Superintendent Gord Perrier has been promoted to Deputy Chief of Operations.
He replaces Dave Thorne, who announced his retirement earlier this month.
As Superintendent, the 24-year veteran oversaw the police human resources and training divisions.
He has also worked many years as an investigator, specializing in money laundering and illegal packaging of currency.
Winnipeg police have three deputy chiefs. Danny Smyth is deputy chief of investigative services. Art Stannard is in charge of support services.
Police are still searching for a new chief to replace Devon Clunis, who will retire this summer.
