A pair of 16-year-olds are facing a slew of charges after a crash sent six to hospital early Monday morning.
Around 2:45 a.m. Winnipeg police were chasing the car when it struck another on the passenger side at Redwood Avenue and McPhillips Street. The driver of the car fled on foot but has now been arrested.
All four passengers in the suspect car and the two people in the car that was hit were all sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the 16-year-old driver took his parents’ car without their permission. He also faces charges of running from police, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, driving while disqualified and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
A 16-year-old passenger also faces charges of possessing property obtained by crime and failing to comply.
Both remain in custody.
Since the crash happened during a police chase, the Independent Investigation Unit is leading the probe into the incident.
