Busy season continues this week at the Convention Centre with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Convention Centre General Manager Klaus Lahr tells us hundred of municipal leaders from across the country will soon flood the building.
“The FCM is going to fill the building with banquets and food functions and meeting rooms for up to 1,500 people.”
Among those people will be Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who took over the Convention Centre Saturday as part of the national Liberal Convention. Last week also saw Centralia call the newly renovated space home for a few days, and Lahr says those renos are already paying dividends.
“Last week we had three events in the building at the same time. Each of them would have filled the old facility by itself.”
Lahr says that pre-expansion, the building would hold anywhere from 500 to 1,200 people. Now, this weekend alone, at least 5,000 people packed the convention centre.
